Pretty much what vestavst004 said. All of them are pretty solid tips right there. For the glow on the hand, you'd do that on a separate layer and put it on top of the layer of the character so it looks like it encompasses the hand rather than be a flat thing behind it. The gradient tool also allows for a smooth transitioned, circular orbs. You just have to select the circle option, choose the colors, and define the radius.

Otherwise, it's looking pretty good
